What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Are you experiencing heel pain? One of the most common causes of pain in your heel is plantar fasciitis, which is an inflammation of the tissue band that connects your toes to your heel bone.
What causes plantar fasciitis?
If you’re overweight, then you’re at a greater risk of developing plantar fasciitis due to the increased pressure on your ligaments, especially if your weight gain was sporadic. If you’re a long-distance runner or have an occupation that requires you to be on your feet often then you are also more likely to develop this condition.
What is the treatment?
We like to opt for conservative treatments such as physical therapy, stretches and the use of orthotics. If pain continues, we would administer steroid injections under ultrasound guidance to alleviate your symptoms. For severe conditions, the surgical route is also available for release of the fascia. Let’s take it one step at a time, though.
