What is a plantar wart?
A Plantar Wart is an infection that is caused by a virus which enters your skin through small cuts or breaks. Over time, an overgrowth of skin develops into a hard, thickened, rough growth on the bottom of your foot, usually at the base of the toes and forefoot or the heel. The condition can be very painful, and we find that children, teens and people with weakened immune systems are most susceptible to this wart virus.
How do you know if you have Plantar Warts?
Examine the surface skin on the bottom of your foot. Plantar Warts may seem to be spongy, with tiny red, brown or black spots. They can grow up to an inch or more across, and may appear alone or in smaller clusters. Some people actually mistake them for corns or calluses. You may also experience pain and tenderness in the area when walking or standing. Plantar Warts may even disappear, and then come back again. If any of these symptoms are familiar to you, it’s time for an evaluation.
What is the treatment?
We recommend over-the-counter remedies, salicylic acid, freezing, and sometimes surgical intervention. We’ll know better when we examine you.
Innovative Microwave Therapy
Microwave Therapy is a revolutionary treatment for the removal of your Plantar Warts. This effective technology introduces microwave energy to your skin, which heats the cells and then triggers your body’s immune system. This, in turn, allows your body to detect and attack the virus that causes Plantar Warts, ridding you of this painful condition.
